Abstract

In this text we present a work currently in progress. Bearing in mind that the development of both regulations in Europe and technology in general are facilitating advances in audio-visual accessibility for people with sensory disabilities, we enquire into whether those advances can also facilitate access to audio-visual production in minority languages. In this way, besides opening up new possibilities for cinema in small languages, the way in which accessibility is normally understood is also challenged: we are not talking about making accessible to minorities what is hegemonic, but of making minority production accessible to those who inhabit the hegemonic culture.
